Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 7, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how The American Men (“The American Men,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you visit theamericanmen.com (the “Site”), read our articles, subscribe to our email newsletter, or contact us. By using the Site, you acknowledge the practices described in this policy. If you have questions, contact us at [email protected].

1. Information We Collect

Information you give us

  • Contact form and email: your name, email address, the reason for your message, and anything you choose to include in it.
  • Newsletter sign-ups: your email address and, if requested, your name, along with the date, time, and page where you signed up.
  • Comments (if enabled): the name, email address, and comment you submit, plus your IP address and browser user agent, which help with spam detection.

Information collected automatically

  • Log and device data: like most websites, our servers and service providers record information such as your IP address, browser type and version, operating system, referring page, the pages you view, and the date and time of your visit.
  • Cookies and similar technologies: small files and identifiers stored in your browser or device that help the Site work, measure traffic, and deliver and measure advertising. See Section 4 and our Cookie Policy.
  • Email engagement data: our newsletters may contain pixels or tracked links that tell us whether an email was opened and which links were clicked.

We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal information such as government ID numbers, financial account numbers, or health records, and we ask that you do not send such information to us.

2. How We Use Information

  • To operate, maintain, secure, and improve the Site;
  • To respond to your messages, news tips, correction requests, and other inquiries;
  • To send newsletters and other emails you have requested, and to manage unsubscribes;
  • To display advertising that helps fund the Site, including personalized advertising where permitted (see Section 4);
  • To understand how readers use the Site, which stories are popular, and how we can improve our coverage;
  • To detect and prevent spam, fraud, abuse, and security incidents; and
  • To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Use.

3. Legal Bases for Processing (EEA, UK, and Switzerland)

If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we process personal information on the following legal bases: your consent (for example, for non-essential cookies, personalized advertising, and newsletters), our legitimate interests (for example, operating and securing the Site and responding to messages), and compliance with legal obligations. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time without affecting processing that took place before you withdrew it.

4. Advertising and Google AdSense

The Site is supported by advertising. We may use Google AdSense and other third-party advertising partners to serve ads when you visit the Site. These companies may use cookies, web beacons, and similar technologies to collect information about your visits to this and other websites in order to provide advertisements about goods and services of interest to you and to measure ad performance.

If you opt out of personalized advertising, you will still see ads, but they will be less relevant to you. If other third-party ad networks or vendors serve ads on the Site, we will list them here with links to their opt-out pages where available.

Where required by law, including for visitors in the EEA, the UK, and Switzerland, we will ask for your consent before personalized ads or non-essential cookies are used, through a consent message provided by Google or another certified consent management platform. You can change your choices at any time through that message or your browser settings.

5. Analytics

We may use analytics services, such as Google Analytics, and statistics features built into our website software to understand how visitors find and use the Site, for example which pages are viewed and for how long. These services use cookies or similar technologies and may collect your IP address and device information. You can prevent Google Analytics from using your data by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

6. Email Newsletter

If you subscribe to our newsletter, we will send you emails with our latest stories and updates. Newsletters may include advertising, and we may occasionally send dedicated messages on behalf of sponsors or partners. We do not give or sell your email address to those sponsors for their own use without your consent. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can also unsubscribe by contacting us. We use third-party email delivery services to send our emails; those providers process your information on our behalf.

7. Embedded Content From Other Websites

Articles on the Site may include embedded content such as posts from X (formerly Twitter), videos from YouTube or Rumble, or other media. Embedded content behaves the same way as if you had visited the other website, and those websites may collect data about you, use cookies, and track your interaction with the embedded content, particularly if you are logged in to their service. Their privacy policies govern that collection.

8. How We Share Information

We share personal information only as described in this policy:

  • Service providers that host the Site, deliver email, provide security and spam protection, analytics, and similar services, under obligations to protect the information and use it only to provide services to us;
  • Advertising partners such as Google, which collect information through cookies and similar technologies as described in Section 4;
  • Legal and safety reasons: when we believe in good faith that disclosure is required by law, subpoena, or court order; is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of The American Men, our readers, or others; or is needed to investigate threats, fraud, or attacks on the Site. We may report credible threats of violence to law enforcement;
  • Business transfers: if The American Men is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction; and
  • Aggregated or de-identified information that cannot reasonably be used to identify you, for example overall audience statistics.

We do not sell personal information for money. However, allowing advertising partners to collect information through cookies for personalized advertising may be considered a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information under some U.S. state privacy laws. See Section 10 to opt out.

9. Data Retention and Security

We keep personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, for example as long as you remain subscribed to our newsletter, or as long as needed to respond to and keep a record of your message, unless a longer period is required by law. We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards, including encrypted HTTPS connections, to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Your Privacy Rights

EEA, UK, and Switzerland

You have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information; to restrict or object to certain processing; to data portability; and to withdraw consent at any time. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

California and other U.S. states

Depending on where you live, including California (under the CCPA as amended by the CPRA), Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, Texas, Oregon, and other states with consumer privacy laws, you may have the right to:

  • Know what categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you, the sources, the purposes, and the categories of third parties with whom we share it;
  • Request deletion or correction of your personal information;
  • Opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of your personal information and of targeted (cross-context behavioral) advertising; and
  • Not be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights.

In the past 12 months, we may have collected the following categories of personal information: identifiers (such as name, email address, IP address, and cookie identifiers), internet or other electronic network activity (such as browsing and ad interaction data), and approximate geolocation derived from IP address. These are used and disclosed for the purposes described in Sections 2, 4, 5, and 8.

Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information: to opt out of personalized advertising, use Google’s Ads Settings and the DAA opt-out tool, adjust your browser cookie settings, or email us at [email protected] with the subject line “Do Not Sell or Share.” Where required by law, we treat a recognized browser opt-out preference signal, such as Global Privacy Control, as a valid request to opt out for that browser.

How to make a request

To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected] or use our Contact page, choosing “Privacy request.” We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request, and you may use an authorized agent where permitted by law. We will respond within the time required by applicable law. If we deny your request, you may appeal by replying to our response with “Appeal” in the subject line.

11. Children’s Privacy

The Site is intended for a general adult audience and is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA and UK). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

12. Do Not Track

Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” setting. Because there is no common industry standard for how to respond to these signals, the Site does not currently respond to Do Not Track signals, except as described above for legally recognized opt-out preference signals.

13. International Visitors

The Site is operated from the United States, and the information we collect is processed and stored in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate. Those countries may have data protection laws that differ from the laws of your country. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for international transfers.

14. Third-Party Websites

The Site contains links to other websites and advertisements from third parties. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those websites or advertisers, and we encourage you to read their privacy policies.

15. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Significant changes may also be announced on the Site. Your continued use of the Site after an update means you accept the revised policy.
