Flydubai aircraft linked to a reported midair cockpit incident on Flight FZ1073

Flydubai Flight Diverts After Reported Cockpit Stabbing as Israel Treats It as Terror Attack

Distress Alert Sends Flight Toward Saudi Arabia

Flydubai Flight FZ1073, traveling from Dubai to Tel Aviv, diverted to Saudi Arabia after a reported fight between the pilots triggered a distress alert, according to sources cited by CNN. Flight-tracking data from Flightradar24 showed the Boeing 737 turning over Jordanian airspace toward Saudi Arabia and descending 17,400 feet within minutes around 0120 ET. Israeli fighter jets were scrambled as the aircraft changed course. Those details explain why authorities treated the situation as serious, but they do not by themselves establish what happened inside the cockpit.

Reports Describe a Fight at the Cockpit

Amit Segal of Israel’s Channel 12 reported that, after situation assessments and passenger testimonies, Israel was treating the incident as a full-fledged terrorist attack. Segal said the co-pilot appeared to have repeatedly stabbed the captain. Several crew members and passengers reportedly broke through the cockpit door and subdued the attacker. A senior official said the co-pilot was being questioned and that indications were mounting that he intended to take control of the aircraft and crash it with the passengers aboard. Those are serious claims attributed to Israeli media and officials, but they remained reported details rather than a completed public investigation.

Flydubai Confirms the Landing, Not the Alleged Attack

Flydubai confirmed that a midair incident occurred and said the Boeing 737 landed safely in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia, with all passengers safe and accounted for. The airline did not specify what caused the incident or describe any alleged stabbing. “Our teams are working closely with the relevant authorities,” the carrier said. It added, “Further updates will be issued as additional confirmed details become available.” That statement confirms the safe outcome while leaving the central questions unanswered. The airline’s wording also shows the difference between what has been officially acknowledged and what has been reported by passengers, media outlets, and officials.

Passengers Report Shouting and a Sudden Plunge

Passengers told Israel’s Channel 12 that they heard shouting near the cockpit and an altercation inside the aircraft. They also said the plane plunged before landing in Saudi Arabia, a description that broadly matches the rapid descent shown in flight-tracking data. The passenger accounts help explain the distress alert but do not settle the exact sequence of events or establish the alleged motive. Israeli authorities’ reported terrorism classification is therefore significant, but it is not the same as a final finding. The co-pilot was reportedly being questioned while authorities and the airline worked to determine what happened aboard Flight FZ1073.
