Donald Trump has hinted that Prince Harry could face deportation from the United States if he is found to have lied about his drug use on his visa application.
Trump’s Remarks on Prince Harry’s Visa Controversy
During an interview with GB News’ Nigel Farage, Trump was asked whether Prince Harry should receive any “special privileges” if it emerges that he lied on his visa application. This question follows legal scrutiny over the royal’s immigration status after he admitted to illegal drug use in his memoir.
“No. We’ll have to see if they know something about the drugs, and if he lied, they’ll need to take appropriate action,” Trump stated in a preview of the interview.
When queried if “appropriate action” could include deportation, Trump did not give a definitive answer. “Oh, I don’t know. You’ll have to tell me. You just have to tell me. You would think they would’ve known this long ago,” he replied.
Prince Harry’s Drug Use Admission
In his autobiography “Spare,” Prince Harry confessed to using drugs such as cocaine, cannabis, and psychedelic mushrooms, which are grounds for rejection of his American visa application.
The 77-year-old Trump has previously commented on Prince Harry’s immigration status, warning that if re-elected in 2024, the Duke of Sussex would be “on his own” after his “unforgivable” betrayal of Queen Elizabeth II.

Criticism of Biden Administration
Trump criticized President Biden’s administration for being overly accommodating to the Sussexes since Harry and his American wife, Meghan Markle, relocated to California in 2020. He voiced these critiques during the Conservative Political Action Conference in Oxon Hill, Md., last month.

Lawsuit by Heritage Foundation
Prince Harry’s immigration status has become the subject of a lawsuit by the conservative think tank Heritage Foundation. The organization argues that the royal could not have legally entered the US because he admitted to taking illegal drugs in his memoir. In “Spare,” Harry disclosed that when he was younger, he had used cocaine, marijuana, and psychedelic mushrooms. The Heritage Foundation’s lawsuit contends that US law generally deems such a person inadmissible for entry into the country. However, lawyers representing the Department of Homeland Security argued in court that stating something in a book doesn’t constitute “sworn testimony or proof.”
