The tragic story of Mica Miller underscores the severe impact of a tumultuous relationship, culminating in her taking her own life.
Background and Relationship Turmoil
Mica Miller, a 30-year-old pastor’s wife from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, was found dead on April 27 with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Her estranged husband, John-Paul Miller, a pastor at Solid Rock Church, allegedly posted explicit images of her on Facebook weeks before her death. The couple had a volatile relationship, with Mica attempting to divorce John-Paul in October 2023, withdrawing the filing in February, and refiling for divorce on April 15 while also seeking a no-contact order against him.
Police Involvement and Allegations
On April 8, Mica contacted the Myrtle Beach Police Department after discovering an indecent image of herself on Facebook, which she believed was posted by her husband. The photo was shared in a group named ‘big boobs and nice curves’ and linked to an old Facebook account of hers. The police report stated that Mica had sent the photo to John-Paul six months earlier. However, authorities informed her that there was no concrete evidence proving he had posted the photo and that legally the receiver now owned it.
Both parties frequently reported each other to law enforcement. In March, John-Paul claimed Mica and her family were harassing him on social media. Conversely, Mica reported finding a tracking device on her vehicle and accused John-Paul of ‘grooming’ her since she was 10 years old. They had been living apart since January 2023, and Mica suspected her husband orchestrated an involuntary hospitalization and took her car.
Mica’s Death and Aftermath
The most heart-wrenching incident occurred when Mica was found dead at Lumber River State Park in North Carolina, just two days after John-Paul received divorce papers. During a Sunday service following her death, Miller announced his wife’s passing to his congregation as ‘self-induced,’ leaving attendees shocked. Friends and family of Mica held a rally outside the church where John-Paul formerly worked, demanding ‘justice for Mica.’
Revelations About Their Marriage
Further information revealed that John-Paul was allegedly involved with at least one other woman while still legally married to Mica. A waitress named Christiana shared flirtatious messages from him where he seemingly made light of his wife’s suicide. Despite being separated, they were still legally married, and court records indicate their relationship was unstable.
Investigation Findings
Mica Miller’s tragic end has sparked numerous theories, partly fueled by an unusual video of John-Paul informing his congregation about his wife’s suicide at the end of a service. However, evidence provided by the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office conclusively shows that Mica had planned her own demise.
